Project Hail Mary
Space, friendship and a message for our world.
I watched the film knowing almost nothing about it. I had no particular expectations, but enjoyed it so much that I couldn’t wait to read the book. I finished it in two days on holiday.
The book was easy to follow, funny and full of hope. It kept me interested throughout. “Fist bump!” still makes me smile. If you’ve read it, you’ll understand.
What moved me most was how real and positive the friendship felt. The characters come from different worlds, but their bond grows as they face challenges together. They share a goal, learn each other’s language, try to understand their differences and look out for one another.
I wish we had more friendships like this on Earth!
I also enjoyed the detail behind the science. It fascinated me and made me want to learn more about space. But the friendship is what I’ll remember most.
For a story about humanity’s survival, it left me feeling hopeful. I’d love to see us make more effort to understand one another and build genuine friendships, however different we are.
What stayed with you?
